The Square of Barceloneta is historical center of the district, here is the Church of San Miguel del Port (Iglesia San Miguel del Port - Saint Michael port, map). The construction of the Church began simultaneously with residential development of the district, in 1753 and lasted two years. Architect Pedro Cermeno Martin took the Baroque Jesuit Church of Rome.
